Will fight for Muslim, Dalit reservation in private sector: SDPI

Kollam 18-Jan (RINA): The Dalit, Muslim leaders’ meet decided to hold joint fight for the implementation of demographic reservation for Dalits and Muslims in educational and employment sections in private sector.
The decision was taken by the meet organized by Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) at Kollam.

The leaders’ meet viewed that whenever there were opportunities of Dalit-Muslim unity on the anvil, the upper caste were out in the open with strategies to scuttle it. As far as formal education for suppressed and backward communities is concerned the upper caste people have taken the approach of Eklavya. Sanghparivar forces had seen victory time and again to divide Muslims and Dalits raking sensational issue like of Babri Masjid and Mandal. There were also attempts from the part of Brahmanical class to topple the democratically elected governments with the support of backward communities. In the matter of corruption, both the political fronts in Kerala are on the same boat. It has been alleged that it was deputy opposition leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan who saved Chief Minister Oommen Chandy when he was involved in a corruption case.
The leaders’ meet was inaugurated by SDPI national president E Abubacker.
SDPI state president Nasaruddeen Elamaram, Chengara Samara Samithi leader Laha Gopalan, Latheen Catholic Vedi president Adv. James Fernandes delivered speeches at the meet. Kurava Mahasabha general secretary Maranad Narayanan, Ambedkar-Ayyankali Samskarika Vedi leader V Manoharan Alappuzha, Vedar Samrakshana Mahasabha president Amathara Nadesan, Ambedkar Cultural Society president Karakulam Sathyakumar and other Dalit and SDPI leaders also participated in the meet.
